Catherine Charcosset graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lyon in 1987. She obtained her PhD thesis in University of Compiègne, France, in 1990. From 1990 to 1992, she had a postdoctoral position at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston, USA. She has been working as a research scientist in CNRS first at Laboratoire de Génie Chimique, Nancy, France. She has obtained a position at LAGEP, Villeurbanne, France in 1994, first as a junior and then as a senior scientist. She works in the field of membranes and membranes processes, mainly for biotechnology and pharmacy, and for environmental applications. Her research concerns membrane processes for the preparation of emulsions and particles, membrane crystallization, membrane chromatography, hybrid membrane processes for water treatment, characterization of bilayer lipid membranes, preparation of liposomes, etc. She is the co-author of more than 110 papers in international journals and 3 patents. She has participated to several national and international projects. She is actually executive editor for the International Journal of Membrane Science and Technology (Editor Angelo Basile, Institute of Membrane Technology, Italy).
