Director’s words

Under the supervision of the University Lyon 1 and the CNRS, the Laboratory of  Automatic Control, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering (LAGEPP) is a multidisciplinary laboratory that covers the fields of process engineering, automation, engineering products, pharmaceutical engineering and physicochemistry. The objective of the laboratory is to conduct cross-cutting research projects involving researchers from different disciplinary fields while ensuring the maintenance of high-level scientific work and experimentation in each disciplinary field. The research activities focus on two major scientific themes:

  • Physicochemical processes and processes in dispersed and evolving complex media (nanoparticle production process, crystallization, lyophilization).
  • Dynamic modeling, observation and control of processes.

The work covers fundamental aspects of understanding and modeling of phenomena up to the development of products in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, energy, food ...

LAGEPP is structured into four scientific teams that bring together researchers and professors/assistant professors with expertise in the three key disciplinary areas of automatic, process engineering and pharmaceutical engineering. The teams benefit from the support of the colleagues of the common service organized according to the competences in:

  • administrative and financial service,
  • project engineering department,
  • analysis and instrumentation department
  • and computer service.

The LAGEPP is located on two sites: the main site on the campus Lyon-Tech La Doua (Villeurbanne), in the premises of ESCPE Lyon and the Faculty of Pharmacy (Rockefeller site).

The LAGEPP develops numerous academic and industrial collaborations, in the form of institutional projects and direct contracts (10 ANR projects, 2 European projects, a dozen industrial contracts in progress).

The scientific production of the laboratory amounts to more than 80 publications per year and 12 to 15 PhD graduates each year.
